Participant Eligibility

Residency and school attendance

Our by-laws state that a participant must reside within, and/or attend school within, the boundaries of Prior Lake / Savage Area School District #719. This includes public, private, charter and home-schooled students who live inside district boundaries.

Age and grade

• Athletes are placed by the grade they are entering in the fall.
• PreK athletes must be 5 years old by September 1st of that season.
• Travel age divisions (9U, 10U and so on) follow each league's age-cutoff date.
• Playing up a level is not permitted unless pre-approved by the sport's Vice President, the Travel Director and that sport's board.

Requesting an exception

Families who do not meet the residency requirement — for example those who recently moved, or who attend a school just outside the boundary — should contact the sport's Vice President or the Administrative Director before registering. Exceptions are reviewed case by case and require Executive Board clearance.

Registering an ineligible athlete

Registrations that do not meet eligibility requirements and were not pre-approved will be cancelled and refunded, and the athlete will not be placed on a roster. Please ask first — we would much rather find a way to say yes.
