Travel Teams
Travel tryouts are how P.L.A.Y. forms competitive teams fairly. Here is exactly how the process works.
Athletes must be registered for the travel program before they can be evaluated. Registration closes before tryouts begin.
Evaluators are high school coaches or trained evaluators from outside the program — never a parent of an athlete being scored.
Sessions combine skill stations with live play so athletes are seen in game situations, not just drills.
Teams are formed by the travel director and sport board using evaluation scores, roster sizes and available coaches.
Results are communicated privately by email or through the team app on the date published for that sport.
Follow the 24-hour rule, then contact the travel director. Individual scores are not released.
Not permitted unless pre-approved by the Vice President of the sport, the travel director and the sport board.
Contact the travel director in advance. Make-up sessions are arranged when possible; unexcused absences may affect placement.
Every athlete has an in-house spot. In-house is a great season of real games — many travel players started there.
Tryout dates are sport-specific — check the calendar and your sport's page.
